Skerries Traditional Music Weekend commenced in 2001 and developed over the years into an action-packed Weekend with Concerts, Recitals, Workshops, Sessions and Street Music.

Quality Tutors are invited to tutor at the workshops and the range of instruments include Fiddle, Tin Whistle, Flute, Uilleann Pipes, Concertina, Accordion, Banjo, Harp and Set & Sean Nós Dancing.

Top class performers take to the stage in the Little Theatre for the opening concert of the Weekend. In previous years, Frankie Gavin & De Danann, Téada, Four Men & A Dog, Danu and Beoga, to name but a few, have performed in Skerries.

Our festival continues to go from strength to strength and this year promises to attract many more revellers from Ireland and abroad, so make sure you join us in May for a chilled weekend of great music, great craic and a great vibe.

The voluntary committee of Skerries Traditional Music Weekend is very grateful for the kind sponsorship and support of Fingal County Council, the Arts Council, and the local businesses of Skerries.

2018 marks the 17th anniversary of the Skerries Traditional Music Weekend. This picturesque seaside town plays host to a weekend full of music, song and dance, reflecting the unique culture of the Fingal region. Leading artists travel to Skerries where they join with locals and visitors in a celebration of Irish Heritage.
The packed programme of events provides a focus for expert tuition, concerts and recitals, lively afternoon and evening sessions, lots of enjoyment including an opportunity for some ‘Caint agus Comhrá’ and an early evening Mass at 6pm on Saturday 19th with Traditional Irish Music by Inis Rua, Skerries Young Traditional Musicians.
This year sponsorship by Fingal County Council’s Community Culture & Sports Department and local businesses is augmented by Progressive Credit Union Ltd and The Moriarty Group. The local organising committee is very grateful for this vital support.
